Environmental Policy
Cheetah Minicabs actively promote a two pronged ongoing carbon reduction strategy. This includes:
- Measures taken to help improve internal efficiency within the office
- To reduce the environmental impact of our fleet whilst in the streets of London.
A large number of our fleet has recently undergone Smarter Driving training that helped us to reduce fuel consumption by up to 15%. The certification has been accredited by the Energy Saving Trust. In addition we have implemented a Fleet Health Check procedure with the advice of the Energy Saving Trust to facilitate us in reducing fleet costs, emissions and to ensure good practise is implemented across the board.
Recycling systems have been introduced in the office internally and as a result the majority of our invoices are produced via eBilling and targets have been set to reduce paper wastage. Our office stationary is now also locally sourced from greener suppliers. Electrical equipment is recycled and significant changes have been made to lighting, heating and cooling systems within the workplace. Our office lighting has been replaced with compact fluorescents (CFL's), lighting is being used less with the use of electrical timers and other general energy saving procedures have been implemented within the organisation.
We actively engage with our fleet on a quarterly basis and aim to help promote and encourage measures that reduce our carbon footprint. This includes guidance on the advantages of regularly carrying out vehicle health checks, long term cost savings when upgrading driver vehicles to electrical or hybrid cars, the benefits of tyres inflated with Nitrogen instead of compressed air alongside other new energy saving discoveries.
The introduction of a modern fleet dispatch system has enabled us to reduce dead mileage by allocating jobs to the nearest driver. Built in GPS and satellite navigation has been instrumental in assisting our fleet in getting to the correct location by opting for the shortest and fastest route every time.
In order to ensure the successful delivery of our environmental policy we have implemented a continuous programme to monitor our carbon footprint, increase the awareness of our environmental responsibilities and help to support initiatives within the organisation. We also welcome and aim to support external agencies that promote greener transport.
